Metallic Epoxy Floor Coating Installation - Oak Point, Texas

In this video I am showing the steps and some of the application of installing a metallic epoxy floor coating. Metallic epoxy is becoming very popular, they are one of a kind floors that are unique to each floor. There are unlimited color combinations so no floor looks exactly a like! Let me know what you think and please subscribe to my YouTube channel. I will be posting more informative videos on all of my services.

Project Description: Metallic Epoxy Floor installed in work shop.

Problem: Wanted to seal up the concrete for easy cleaning and wanted a one of a kind floor.

Solution: Highly decorative Metallic Epoxy floor coating.

Preparation:
The existing floor was raw concrete with a broom finish making it hard to sweep up the loose saw dust. Customer wanted something that was easy to clean but also wanted a show piece floor.

Coating application:
Once the preparation was completed a primer coat was applied and than a black base coat of epoxy. Once the base coat was dry the four colors of metallic epoxy was placed on the floor, squeegeed and back rolled. For an easier to maintain look a satin finish clear was put on as the top coat. Glossy looks great but will dull over time from natural wear and tear. A satin finish looks great and is more maintenance free of the life of the floor.

Summary:
My customer was looking for a easy to clean and attractive floor. They got that with this floor!

Quality Epoxy Floor Coatings - Aubrey, Texas

This blog talks about proper preparation and quality products to make your garage floor look great for many years.

Introduction
There are a lot of different floor coating options in the market place. Some DIY kits and some other products needing more experience to apply. When applying any coating, preparation is key to a successful installation and the second requirement is quality products. However, without proper preparation even the quality products can fail.

Preparation Methods
The two methods of preparation are chemically etching and mechanically grinding to open up the pours of the concrete which gives the coating something to grab a hold of. In your DIY kits they show you the method for etching the concrete since unless you are a floor coating contractor the odds of you having a concrete grinder are slim. The problem with etching the concrete is that most of the time it isn’t done properly. Improper etching includes not getting a uniform etch over the surface and not neutralizing the etching material to bring the pH of the concrete back to a neutral state. These two factors contribute to pre-mature failure of a coating.

Case Study

Grinding off the existing coating to put a proper profile on the concrete.

The following is a garage floor I just completed where a contractor (General Contractor) paid his painters (wall painters) come in and paint the garage floor for his customer. After a month this paint coating was coming off of the concrete in the areas where the car tires sit. This is the worst problem area for most coatings because when you come home after a long day and it is hot outside your tires can get pretty warm. When your tires are still warm they are leaching plasticizers which when cooled with actually stick to the garage floor coating, kind of like a hot glue gun. So in the morning when you leave, if  don’t have a quality product and if your coating doesn’t have a good bond with the concrete it will start to peel off the floor.
So the General Contractors painters come back to touch up these areas however they didn’t use the same material and it wasn’t even the same color. After a few more months of talking with the General Contractor he refunded the customers money. The customer contacted Versatile Coatings LLC to fix their problem and here is what I did.

Ready for new floor coating!

Garage floor gets a new life - Corinth, Texas

This was one of the worst concrete finishing jobs I have come across. The finishers where either new or drunk there where more waves in the finish than in the ocean. Also, the concrete was either to wet or it got rained on when placing because it was some of the softest concrete I have come across as well. However, here is the finished product after coating and the customer couldn't be more pleased.
